Neda Kerendian is fascinated by color and light. The way traffic lights and headlights reflect and change within glass windows. How the world looks entirely different when it rains. The streets suddenly reflecting every light and every movement. In a way, magic exists in our world in these ordinary moments. To her, the way light and color interact with each other in unexpected ways is magic.
With these collage works, she hopes to capture a certain amount of that magic with the use of past photographs, glitter, and texture. Her process represents the passing of time and the way memories fade and get overshadowed by what is more present. These paintings explore nostalgia and the attempt to hold onto the past.
