Walls

Robert Beveridge

last night walls ground down

once stone now dust runs white

earth heaves rejects walls chest

rises chokes stream gasp

for air gasp for breath this night walls

still bury unquiet dead in dust

break free from walls this night

cold night dust chokes cold

white stream rejects earth

break free

penned like rats by dust walls

this night rats choke break

free from pen break free

with pen from dust walls gasp

for breath and scream with pen

this night break free

from walls earth heaves dust

walls run white this cold

cold night walls choke rats

break free from pen break

free with pen from white

stream break free

gasp for breath

bury

unquiet dead

pick up pen

reject walls

reject earth

break free
